The World Tour portion of the game is probably the most fun part of owning the game.

The World Tour – The Meat and Potatos of Single Player

Creating a player for the World Tour isn’t as indepth as I would’ve liked, but it does a good enough job. You create both a male and a female character and can switch between the two to raise their stats. To raise your stats you must play mini games that increase your skills in serving, volleying, footwork, etc. You gain experience for the minigames and, depending on what skills you used more over the course of the game, your skills go up. Completed challenges give multipliers to the experience so it behooves you to win.

To raise money, you can play in tournaments. You start ranked last at 300 and then slowly make your way up as you win tournaments. Tournaments are much quicker than real life tournaments (thankfully). Most usually consist of a few “best 2 out of 3″ matches. Doubles tournaments require you to spend your winnings on contracts and pairing up with some of the top tennis players. The computer controlled players actually did way better than me… which was kind of disconcerting.

The game was very entertaining from a tennis fan’s point of view though there were two issues that I had with the game that keep it from getting that last star.

General Gameplay Issues

The first issue I had was the overall sluggishness of the interface. There was constant loading in every part of the game. Starting from the create a player interface to the world map where you choose what to do. And it just slowed down the process. It would’ve been nice if failed attempts at minigames would give you a prompt to see if you wanted to try it again instead of reloading the world map and having to reload the levels again. Though the fact that i would play the same minigame over 10 times in a row should show how addictive it can become. The slowness may be attributed to the firmware version 1.52 that i had installed (ver. 2.00+ is out), and I don’t have another PSP to try the game out on.

The second minor issue I had was with the minigames. True, they’re fun and addictive, but they don’t really change much as the game continues. The levels remain the same. They just add a few more objectives and keep the time limits the same. Some just seemed extremely difficult given the lack of control you have in the beginning.. but they were still keeping me coming back for more so I suppose the issue isn’t as big a deal. But the difficulty coupled with the loading times were an annoyance worth mentioning.

Conclusion

I recommend the purchase to anybody wanting a decent tennis game to play on the go (The tiny ball on the screen sometimes gets hard to track). Otherwise you’d probably be better off buying a console version of Top Spin (better graphics and faster loading).

Being a tennis player, I appreciate the variety of shots you can make, though making a certain shot can be ‘hit or miss’ at times.

There are several modes including quick game, exhibition, tournament or world tour. There are also a number of different surfaces including carpet, hard court, clay and grass and venues, including Tokyo, Melbourne, London and the USA.

One downside for me though is, even though I’ve created a custom player in World Tour mode, I still haven’t been able to build up enough skill to actually play in any of the tournaments – the mini games to improve your skill seem quite difficult. You need to improve your skill so that your custom player can take part in the world tour mode.

Overall it’s a pretty nice game and it’s fun to play, but don’t expect to be able to just pick it up and get to the final of wimbledon in one sitting!

I own every handheld system tennis game there is. This is the best. Here’s why.

Incredible ball control. For me, it’s about making the shots. A drop when your opponent is on the baseline. hammering it deep to the right corner over and over and then whipping it to the far left. serve and volley. amazing angles. I can do it all on this psp game.

Graphics, graphics, graphics. Must be seen. BY FAR the best on a handheld system. Plus 2 player views. Overhead and on-court.

opponent skill and AI. level your player to the max, set the computer opponent to very hard and have a ball. In all the months of play, I have only served 2 aces!

Easy to save at any point. If I have to turn off in the middle of a point, the system usually comes on to that point. Great on the plane.

Strong minigames.

If you are a big fan of tennis and especially if you are a former competitive player – Buy this game.

8541 of 8700 people found the following review helpful.
Fantastic device – pick your Kindle!
By FreeSpirit
Having been a little overwhelmed by the choices between all the new Kindles and which one to get, I ordered this new basic $79 Kindle first to take for a spin. So far, I like what I see. I also own a Kindle 3 so that’s the only device I can really compare it to at this time (I think a comparison between other tablets and this Kindle is meaningless, this device is all about content and delivery):

1. Form-factor – Compared to the Kindle 3, this Kindle feels more compact, lighter and easier to hold. My hands wrap around this better than K3. Reading books for a few hours at a stretch will be easier on this device compared to the K3. It is the lightest such device I have used compared to all previous Kindles and other tablets.

2. Screen – I personally like the fact that there are no keys on the device and that keys come up on the screen when you need them. Delivers a better overall reading experience. However, navigating through the on-screen keyboard with the 5-way controller can be taxing if you need to do a lot of searching, and you might miss the full physical keyboard. I hardly search on the Kindle itself, I search for books on my laptop so this is a non-issue.

3. Price! – At $79, you can’t go wrong. Compared to buying paperback or hardcover editions, you will recover the cost of this in a matter of a few months because most Kindle content is priced cheaper than print editions (and you get it instantly, and can access it wherever you are). Not to mention all the free Kindle downloads available in the catalog.

4. Display – almost the same E-ink display at the K3. No glare no reflection. You can sit in bright sunlight and read it just like a book. Page turns seem a lot faster on this compared to the K3. Screen size of the Kindle 3, this new Kindle, and the Touch is exactly the same in size.

5. Wi-Fi – this can be a pro or a con (no 3G) depending on a user’s personal preference. If you travel often and would like to be able to download content anywhere without worrying about getting a wi-fi connection, you’re better off sticking with the K3 or waiting for the Touch/Fire. For me, 3G is not a major issue.

6. Text to Speech and Audiobooks – These two features are lacking in this device. I personally have never used these features on my K3. If you listen to audiobooks or TTS or music on your Kindle, again the K3/Touch/Fire might be better options.

7. Storage – this device can store 2GB which they claim is approximately 1400 books. For me, that’s a massive storage capacity and it will be years before I get close to that capacity. Again, if you download books occasionally and have a moderate Kindle downloaded content on your device, 2GB is plenty. Of course, think ahead and see how much you would expect to download in the coming 2 years (I am assuming the device will be outdated and replaced within this time-frame).

8. Battery life – too early to tell but Kindle battery life tends to be great. Specs state that the battery life of this device is 1 month compared to 2 months for the Touch or K3. 1 month is plenty (Android phones need to be charged every hour!). At least I know that if I’m going on a long flight, this device won’t need charging if I charge it up in advance.

9. Power adapter – this Kindle does not come with a power adapter, only a USB charging cable. You can either buy it separately for $8-10, or use your existing USB power adapter. Any USB adapter would work with the charging cable (previous Kindle versions, Apple’s portable devices, and most HTC phones, come with a standard USB power adapter that would work for this device). There are also plenty of $2-3 adapters available here if you search for USB chargers.

Bottom line – the choice between this basic Kindle, the K3 Keyboard, the Touch, and the Fire is really a personal preference. This device itself is meant for the minimalist Kindle user who, like me, reads say a 2-3 books a month, wants a device comfortable to hold, and doesn’t need any fancy bells and whistles on the device. I guess it depends on what you use your Kindle for. If it’s just the basics, this is the perfect device to get.

In my humble opinion, the choices:

(i) If you have a DX or an old Kindle version, or if you don’t have a Kindle yet and are an average book-reader, this is definitely the one to get – baseline model that is affordable and is a pure e-reader.

(ii) If you have Kindle 3 and don’t really need an upgrade, I recommend sticking with the K3, it’s a better device than this one in terms of features. If you do need to upgrade, the Touch is probably a better option because of all the additional features, at a small incremental cost.

(iii) If you’re looking for the loaded full-on Amazon content experience with access to all the apps, streaming audio and video, and playing the “strangely therapeutic” Fruit Ninja, wait for the Fire!

I sincerely hope this review helps you decide whether this Kindle is right for you. If you are still unable to make a decision, it may be worthwhile to wait for the Touch and Fire to be released, and see the reviews on those devices before making a final decision.

Ts
First off, I received my new Kindle this morning. I previously owned the Kindle Keyboard, but actually really didn’t like the keyboard or the way the buttons were pressed together. I’m not a fan of touch screens so I bought this one.

There are a few things to know about this particular Kindle that can help you decide if it’s right for you…

Here is a list of things to know about this Kindle.

1. You’ll be using an onscreen keyboard with the 5-Way Controller. This is not a problem for setting up WiFi and a little writing but if you are an avid note-taker or do a lot of writing with your Kindle, you might want to opt for the Kindle Keyboard.
2. NO AUDIO – If you are planning on listening to audiobooks, Mp3s, or Text to Speech on your Kindle, this is not the device for you. There is not even a headphone jack, so there is absolutely no audio support.
3. 2GB! This device has 2GB of storage, which is half of all the others… if you seriously need to keep over 1,400 books or so on your Kindle, you should opt for one of the others, all of which have 4GB. I only keep a hundred or so books on mine and the rest are up in the Amazon Cloud waiting for convenient download.
4. There’s no 3G version but the WiFi works just fine.
5. There is a shorter battery life. Amazon reports the battery life is only one month of reading, compared with the others that clock in at two months. If you are going to be away from electricity for over a month, first of all RESPECT!, second of all, you may want a Kindle that has the 2 month battery life.
6. It’s lighter than all the other versions. It weighs in at just under 6oz (170g). The closest competition is the Kindle Touch which is about 7.5oz.
7. It has 5 buttons on the face at the bottom. In the middle is the big 5-Way Controller button as found on other Kindles. There are two small buttons on either side of this. On the left side, from left to right are the “Back” button and the “Keyboard” button. The “Back” button is the same as on other Kindles. The “Keyboard” button calls the onscreen keyboard onto the screen. On the right side of the 5-Way Controller are (again, from left to right) the “Menu” button, and the “Home” button. The “Next Page” and “Previous Page” buttons are the same as on other Kindles.
8. Because of the above 5 buttons, I find it much easier to use than the Kindle Keyboard. On the Kindle Keyboard, the “Back” button was right below the 5-Way Controller, and I accidentally hit it on more than one occasion.
9. On the bottom there is only the mini-USB port, the charging light, and the On-Off Button.
10. There are not a whole lot of covers available for this Kindle yet. (Amazon’s won’t be available until the end of October.)

As for reading, and as a pure reading device. It is awesome… in fact, without the keyboard, audio, and other features I don’t need. This is actually the best one for someone like me who just wants to read.

I’ve already successfully transferred my library, downloaded books over WiFi, and borrowed library books through the Overdrive Library eBooks System. My only small point of dissatisfaction is that there are so few good covers and accessories right now (though there ARE some available that look pretty good).

All in all, I believe this is the BEST of all the Kindles currently available. Only consider others if you:
a. Really want the touch screen version.
b. Need audio.
c. Need 4GB
d. Need a big Kindle DX.
e. Take a lot of notes or do a lot of writing that requires a keyboard.
f. Prefer the design of another version.
g. Need more than a month’s battery power.

Hope this helps someone make a good decision!

(Brief update: I love this Kindle, but right now the scarcity of good, inexpensive covers for it is a little troubling. The Amazon made leather one with light won’t be available until November or so and there are currently no inexpensive ones to use in the interim. I’ll just have to use it gently for a month or so.)

Update on cases:
I mentioned this in the comments section, but I’ll repeat it here for people who can’t yet find a good case -

Checking the specifications for the Kindle, Nook Touch, and Kobo:
Nook Touch
6.5 x 5 x 0.5 inches
Kobo Reader
6.5 X 4.5 inches
Kindle (4th Generation)
6.5 x 4.5 x 0.34 inches

It looks like the Kobo is about exactly the same size and the Nook Touch is slightly longer. If you need a case but can’t find one that you like yet, it may be worth a little hunting to see if a nook or kobo case or cover might fit the bill.

Extremely legible display, snappy performance
By M. Erb
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RWG7OQ5NMGUMW I was thrilled to receive my new Kindle. I ordered it Sep 28, chose overnight shipping and it arrived (Sep 29) just a few minutes ago. Usually I use a device for a while before reviewing it. In this case, I felt it was important to do a quick review right away because if it can help you in your purchasing decision, so much the better.

If you are a little perplexed with all the various Kindle models and are wondering if this Is the Kindle for you, here are a few questions for you to consider…

1. Do you need text to speech capability or have the desire to listen to mp3′s on your Kindle? If you can live without that, then proceed. This Kindle does not have a speaker thus is not capable of text to speech or playing sounds of any kind including mp3′s.

2. Is color important to you? This is not a color Kindle, it is gray-scale. If you are mostly wanting to read books then this will work for you exceedingly well. The e-ink screen is gorgeous, sharp and provides the ability to change font size, font face and line spacing. It even displays photos quite nicely, but in gray-scale. And you can even zoom in on images.

3. Is a physical keyboard a necessity for you? If you like to make notes and annotations while reading, you may want to look at another model Kindle that has a physical keyboard. Although this Kindle has a screen-based keyboard, it is tedious to type more than a few words or URL’s. It works very well for minimal typing but it’s not for you if you need more than that.

4. Is compact size important for you? Then this is the one to get. It’s thin, light and diminutive in size. Slips easily into a purse, pocket or inside pocket. It is so light which makes holding and reading with one hand for longer periods of time very easy.

5. Do you want to be able to occasionally use a web browser to access a web site? Well surprise surprise, you can do that on this Kindle. It’s an “experimental” feature but it works quite well. It’s been experimental for years, so I’m not quite sure why it’s still labeled experimental. But in any case you can visit websites, save bookmarks and it works.

I also own the original Kindle with the SD card slot. Compared to the original Kindle, this new one is svelte. Thinner, lighter and notably, the e-ink on this new Kindle is vastly improved. In low interior lighting with gray overcast lighting outside, I’m able to easily read the Kindle. It is amazing how the screen almost glows, as if it were backlit. Of course it is not backlit and in fact will not work in the dark. But if you have a small reading light, that solves that problem. Otherwise in most other situations you will pleased with the excellent sharpness and clarity of the Kindle text.

Page “turning” was very snappy to me especially when compared to my old Kindle. The black page flash that occurs on every page turn on the old Kindle does not occur nearly as frequently with the new Kindle. It now occurs after every 5 page turns.

The fact that there is no physical keyboard means that this Kindle is absolutely the easiest to carry Kindle ever. Fits nicely in the hand and the slightly grippy surface makes you feel secure in holding it… it will not easily slip out of your hand.

Setup was a breeze. The Kindle immediately identified my Wi-Fi network and as soon as I entered my password using the onscreen keyboard, I was good to go. Signal strength indicated very high on the Kindle and I did not notice any degradation in signal no matter how I handled it.

As concerns the onscreen keyboard, it was easy and intuitive to use. I don’t expect to have to use it very often and for me I’d rather have no physical keyboard because that makes the Kindle smaller and easier to pack and go.

You still get the typical Kindle tools, such as Highlighting, Notes, Annotations, Public Notes and a few others. You can upload PDF and TXT files and view them. You can easily transfer prior Kindle purchases to your new Kindle. You have the ability to create “collections” Once you’ve created a collection, you add items to it and this is a great way to organize many books.

I have not had this model long enough to comment on battery life, but I’m sure that based on my previous Kindle and the specifications that it will excel. I believe that reading 1/2 hour a day will let you go a month before needing a charge if Wi-Fi is off. That’s pretty awesome. It is charged via the included USB cable and that can be from your computer or via an AC to USB power adapter, or in-car power port USB adapter.

And don’t worry that the memory has decreased in this Kindle. There is still more than enough memory to hold well over 1000 books. And you archive books too which means they are just a click and a few seconds away from being downloaded back to your Kindle from the Amazon Cloud.

Regarding the ads… they are not objectionable. In fact (don’t tell this to the advertisers) I didn’t even notice that there was an advertisement on the home screen until I deliberately looked for it. It takes up just a small portion of the bottom of the screen and is no taller than an inch in height. I don’t know for sure whether all ads are the same size but the one I’m looking at is very unobtrusive. The screensaver ads are full page and don’t bother me at all. And of course, you may just end up getting a good deal on something. I LIKE the ads. Just today I got a couple from an ad that saves me $5 on a $10 Amazon purchase in addition to my choice of a selected list of Mystery/Thriller books for only $1. Love the deals!

I think Amazon has another winner on its hands with this ad-supported Kindle. You just can’t beat it for reading and I’m so glad I got it.

If you have any questions please leave a comment and I’ll do my best to answer them.

UPDATE: 10/16/2011 – I had the opportunity to compare the display of my new Kindle with that of a friends who had a Kindle with keyboard. I’m not sure how old his is, but his display actually had a somewhat lighter colored background which made the legibility slightly better in my opinion. I was quite happy with the clarity, sharpness and contrast of my new Kindle until I compared with him. Now I’m a little conflicted. It’s still great, don’t get me wrong, But it’s not an improvement necessarily over the previous generation as far as I can tell. It’s also possible that there are variations in the e-ink display depending on the luck of the draw. I may question Amazon about this and will report back here if I do. I’d still get this in a heartbeat, but just wanted to let you know about the contrast issue.

UPDATE: 10/17/2011 – There is a new firmware update for the Kindle that addresses the page refresh issue. The new version is 4.0.1 If installed, you will see an additional option in the Settings panel on page 3 called “Page Refresh.” This allows you to have the Kindle refresh the page at each page turn (the screen flashes black briefly.) Otherwise the Kindle will not refresh the page until after each 5 page turns.

UPDATE: 10/19/2011 – I called Amazon Kindle Support to discuss the screen darkness issue I mentioned above. They said they’d send a replacement which I’ve just received. I’m happy to say that the screen background is in fact -slightly- lighter in color on the new Kindle I just received. I’m happy and probably would have still been happy had I not replaced it. But at least I am psychologically satisfied now. The difference in background color was extremely subtle so I wouldn’t worry at all about it if you are happy with your newly purchased $79 Kindle. However there do seem to be some circulating that are more obviously darker and if yours is one of those, then contact Amazon.

UPDATE: 12/6/2011 – Wow, the way these specials offers are going, this Kindle is going to end up being free. I just got another $10 Amazon gift card for $5 the other day. Plus a free Audible Audiobook and 50% off a Kindle cover. Loving the special offers.

The material isn’t as soft as silicone, but also doesn’t collect lint/fuzz and is much easier to pull out of a pocket. It’s very thin and doesn’t significantly increase the envelope of the phone.

But hands down the best part is the fact that it is compatible with the car dock, after removing the dock’s shim/filler piece. I was not counting on this and have grown very tired of having to take cases on and off when using the dock. Since I don’t have any other docks, I can’t comment on whether or not this will work with them, but I would guess the likelihood is high.

Verizon is stupid not to offer this case. To my knowledge there is only one other that is compatible with the extended battery (which isn’t compatible with the car dock) and it’s the textured hard-plastic one that I find hideous.

Bottom line: Sweet case, super-cheap, and not something you will have to take on and off if you use a car dock

The edge of the Bionic near the ear piece is kind of sharp and uncomfortable but this case makes it a nice soft edge. I had to wait until recently to get a case because I got the extended battery right off the bat. When the Bionic first came out I emailed Diztronic about a case and they said they were already working on it. Great customer service and a great case!

Powell
This case fits great–nice and snug. More so than the VZW Silicon Cover for the Standard Battery. The material also doesn’t attract as much dust or pocket lint as the VZW version either. It doesn’t block any ports or speakers. It’s real thin and feels like it’s providing a good deal of protection. For the price, you can’t beat it.

Rhodes
In January of 2005, Resident Evil 4 hit the scene. Since it’s release it has already gone on to be labeled as one of the greatest games of all time. It redefined not only Resident Evil, but the action genre as a whole. The game was originally meant to be a Gamecube exclusive, but found its way to the PS2 later in October 2005. It then had another release on the PC. Now it comes to the Wii. If you’ve got a Wii and you for some reason haven’t played Resident Evil 4, then this is probably the best version yet.

In case you don’t know the story, Resident Evil 4 follows Leon S. Kennedy, a former RPD police officer trying to forget the horrors of Raccoon City. He now works as an agent for the President. The President’s daughter has been kidnapped, and it’s up to Leon to rescue her. Yet when he arrives to the location there’s something weird about the locals. Leon will quickly discover that there are indeed things much worse than being mauled by zombies.

Most gamers are aware of Resident Evil 4′s greatness, but it never hurts to go through it again. Resident Evil 4 sports some of the best gameplay in the entire series. Instead of a fixed camera, it follows Leon around and you see things from over his shoulder. This means Resident Evil 4 was the first Resident Evil to go fully 3D and it works out just fine. The environments are fantastic looking, with even the tiniest things given details. Even two years later, the game still looks absolutely fantastic. There are even some XBOX360 games that don’t give this kind of attention to detail. There are no frame rate issues and no horrific load times. Best of all, the game remains a good challenge.

When it comes to the Gameplay of Resident Evil 4, however, the Wii is a completely different experience. At first it was hard not to be a little nervous about the controls. Just about every game ported to the Wii has had control issues. Surprisingly, Resident Evil 4 does not. The Wii controls are excellent. Nearly flawless. You’ll use the nunchuck to run around, and the Wii remote serves as your gun. In the interactive cutscenes, you’ll use the wii remote and nunchuck to do things like dodge when the game says dodge. Or when the game tells you you’ll need to cut the rope after the first boss for instance, you’ll use the wii remote to cut the rope. At first you might think these Wii Controls are all tacked on, but in the end it makes Resident Evil 4 a completely different experience altogether, and once you get adjusted to them, you’ll wonder how you ever did without them. Even if you’ve played through the Gamecube or Playstation 2 versions, you might want to give the Wii version a shot just because of the controls alone.

If I had any real criticism regarding the control scheme, it would be that Leon doesn’t turn automatically when you aim the remote to the far left or far right of the screen (like how the main character turns in Red Steel). Instead you have to turn him using the nunchuck. There will be plenty of moments where you’ll take damage unfairly. Even worse, you may get confused if games like Red Steel have you used to that sort of thing. This can also make some boss battles harder than they have to be. Clearly Capcom was aware that the controls would take a moment to get used to as bosses are not nearly as tough as they were in the other versions of the game. Anyone who mastered the Gamecube or PS2 version will find the Wii version to be fairly easy. In fact, it even feels as though the difficulty has been taken down a notch.

If the Wii Remote controls aren’t working for you or you want to play the traditional way, the game supports the Classic Controller, and that’s just cool if you want other options.

The Wii version has no additional extras, however. This may disappoint a few gamers. It includes all the extras of the PS2 version at least, but it’s a little disappointing that aside from the Wii Controls, Capcom didn’t put in any other extras exclusive to the Wii version at all.

The game sounds about the same as it did on the Gamecube. In terms of the technological aspects of the game, it’s a direct port here. All the voice acting and dialog is the same, and it still sounds good.

The only really major problem with Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is simple: It’s another port. The controls here work well, though, but it’s the fact that this is the fourth time the game has been released. In all honesty how any people haven’t played the game yet that want to? Even with the fantastic Wii controls and affordable price it’s going to be hard to tell those who own the Gamecube or PS2 versions to get this one. Even if the Wii Controls make the game a completely different experience, it’s still the same game that was released in 2005.

Pros:

+Fantastic Gameplay
+Pretty good storyline overall
+Good voice acting’ music and sound effects
+The game still looks incredible
+All the Playstation 2 extras are here
+A flawless port, no framerate issues or load time issues whatsoever
+The Wii Controls are almost flawless
+The classic controller is available for those who don’t want to use the Wii Remote and Nunchuck

Cons:
-No Wii Exclusive extras
-The game is slightly easier
-It’s the fourth version of Resident Evil 4. If you’ve already got the PS2 or Gamecube version of the game you’ll have to ask yourself if the Wii controls really justify another buy. It’s a completely different experience, but what it really boils down to is that it is STILL the same game you got back in 2005.

Seperately they are both great. Together they are worthless. The problem is you need three hands, one to hold the gun and pull the trigger, one to hold the nunchuck to controll direction and movement, and one to press the A button that causes the gun to fire.

This was mentioned by a few other reviers. However their comments didn’t show up at the top and who reads through hundreds of these things. I only hope this stays visible long enough for at least a few folks to see and understand the issues.

RE4 does look to be a good shooting game and I’ll start looking for a workable gun simulation. Perfect Shot *is* a great gun simulation and I’ll be happy when I find some games where I can use it.

For me, for now, this combination is next to useless.

BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews can take the place of first-hand experiences that are lacking in online shopping. I’ve always appreciated the help I’ve received from other reviewers and work hard to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and if there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I’ll do what I can to fix it.

46 of 51 people found the following review helpful.
Best version of RE4 yet.
By Abagail Bloodworth
Resident Evil 4 is generally hailed as one of the best action games ever made–for a reason. Once you pick it up and start playing, you won’t want to stop. And its release on the Wii is undoubtedly the best version yet.

For those of you who have never played it before, the game centers around Leon Kennedy, on a mission to rescue the President’s daughter, Ashley Graham. But with inhuman creature after creature flung at him, it quickly becomes obvious that these aren’t any ordinary kidnappers he’s dealing with. It’s more or less a side story to the main Resident Evil plotline, so even if you’ve never played an RE game before in your life, don’t worry–you won’t get confused.

The game is amazingly fun to play. It does have a couple of “make you jump” moments, but for the most part, it’s not really a scary game. It is very gory, however–Leon can die in any number of memorable and horrendous ways, such as having his head cut off by a chainsaw-wielding maniac. It can also be extremely difficult at times. The game throws near endless enemies at you from the beginning, forcing you to adapt to the controls quickly merely to survive. And believe me, you will die. You will die many times. What little scariness the game does have tends to come from being surrounded and fearing for your survival–although, on Normal difficulty it’s not as bad as some other notoriously difficult games (coughDMC3cough).

Now, as for the Wii version. If you’ve played the game before, this is where you’ll want to start paying attention.

The Wii controls work amazingly well, and are very intuitive after a few minutes of playing. To shoot, you simply hold B, aim with the Wiimote, and press A to fire. It works incredibly well and allows for previously unknown speed and precision–having played the Wii version, I doubt I could go back to aiming on a traditional controller. Simply wave the Wiimote, and it automatically attacks the nearest target with your knife. (I was skeptical of the auto-target before playing, but it really does work very well.)

Of course, the drawback to the controls themselves being easier to use is that the game itself is also a bit easier as a result, particularly if you’ve played it before. It’s also a bit annoying that when using your rifle–the time at which you really NEED precise aiming–the game makes you aim using the joystick. But, these are merely minor nitpicks in what is otherwise an amazing game.

The Wii version has both the extra content that was included in the PS2 version, and the superior graphics and sound of the Gamecube version. So, if you’ve never played the game before, this is definitely the version to get. And even if you have played it before, at only $30, it might just be worth picking up again.

I am 10 yrs old and I really like it so far. What is good about the game is you are able to choose a horse or a foal or both. You take care of it (feed it, clean it, clean up after it) you can ride it (gallop, cantor, walk or run). You are able to see yourself riding the horse (you can see yourself holding the reigns behind the horse’s head as you ride). When you are out for a ride there are people walking by, they talk to you and invite you for tea and you can ride to their house. What is not great about the game is there is a person that is always telling you how to care for the horse (a text popping up). This happens when you are cleaning or taking care of the horse. When you are riding the horse, you need to wait to be told when you are able to get off the horse (which is very rare). Another thing is that at least so far in the beginning there is only 2 horses and 2 foals to choose from and it takes a while to teach your horse how to jump.

But, overall I enjoy playing. It is a really great game and I recommend that you get it.

Andrews
Horsez is a wonderful game for anyone who loves horses. You need to train, and care for a stable horse. While your caring for the stable horse, you can compete and win competitions with it so you can earn money to buy horse equipment, get show clothes for yourself, or even buy your own foal! If you care for the foal corectly, it will grow up and you’ll have yourself a great horse.

Very fun but hard. I like how you get to plan your day. You get to choose 5 things for each day. I find the dressage to be hard and the jumping to be easy. What I don’t like is that almost ever thing is timed. You have a limit of 2 mins. to groom your horse when in real life it takes about 30 mins. I find it very hard on the 3rd week because you can only go to the chat room once and I can’t get very popular. You have to get all of your grades perfet to pass and popularty is a subjet that you get graded on. If anyone has passed the 3rd week please write a review. You should get this game. I love the jumping and the foal mode where you ger to buy as many foals as you want and in adventure mode you only get to have 1 horse.

Sewell
I just bought this title (again) and it’s really the way to go if you are into SAC. There is however a flaw with the set that has continued from the initial release of the limited edition disks. Specifiacally disk two. The limited edition releases came with two disks, a conventional disk and one coded for DTS. Volume two’s disks were the only disks in the series that were silk screened in reverse so that the DTS disk was labled as if it were the standard version. This problem continues in this set. What this means is that a conventional DVD player will not give you any volume from the disk and you can tell on the main menu because it will read DTS disk in the right corner of the menu. Maybe Bandai will concede to replacing the erronious disk with one that will play on standard players but, I haven’t gotten that far yet. That’s the ONLY reason I can’t give it a 5 star rating.

That is, until this convenient, affordable set-up.

Well, anyway, GITS SAC revolves around the investigation of a cyber-terrorist known as the “laughing man.” Throughout the series attempts are made to stop this heinous criminal only to reveal that the plot is much thicker and deeper than first imagined.

Along with the overlying plot, stand alone episodes act as avenues for character development, philosophical questioning as well as world building. Perhaps two of the better (or at least entertaining in my point of view) episodes consist of Batou’s backstory while investigating a fighter and the tachikoma’s consistent questioning of life and death.

Though these stand alone episodes offer much in the way of development, they have a habit of breaking the pace a little. If you are not intending to watch large chunks of the series at a time or in reasonable sucession, important details can easily be forgotten.

All and all, GITS SAC offers espionage, action, philosophical debate and characters that you can’t help to feel for. Just remember one thing while diving through the GITS SAC world: Nothing is at it seems. And one other thing: it doesn’t hurt to keep the remote in hand to rewind to what you missed.

A. Silva
When I first saw Ghost In The Shell movie back on 1996 on HBO. (Yes, HBO), I instantly fell in love with the storyline and tha animation (the animation for God’s sake), never had seen such great animation for that time. Well, following the item above, I think the series are well done, this first season is filled with some heavy philosophical script (as all GITS universe is) and the plot in my opinion is very interesting it self. The sound is avalaible in both english and japanese audio in dolby 5.1 or 2.0, you choose. In this set you get a well variaty of extras that includes some interviews with the director and production staff as well as the seiyus from the japanese audio. Also you fine the wierd but funny Tachikomatic Days shorts, where these little fellas try to understand the meaning of self thinking and morality and other stuff.

Great work from Bandai, as always.

Honestly, I never really summon it because it’s last effect makes his name “cyber dragon” while it’s in the graveyard, which makes it PERFECT for a later use of Overload Fusion. It’s also one of the most beautiful cards ive ever seen (artwork-wise). Pop this guy into a card sleeve, because you do NOT wanna get this card dirty or bent

Ready 2 Rumble Boxing Round 2 at Amazon

GameSpot Review
The original Ready 2 Rumble Boxing was not only one of the primary Dreamcast games that in truth showed off some of the system’s capabilities, but it was likewise one of the few third-party games that was exclusively original. Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 for the PlayStation 2 has more boxers and moves than the initial game, but isolated from a few slight changes here and there and somewhat better visuals, the game remains for the most part unchanged, which for humans who’ve never played the firstborn is great. However, for those of us who were huge fans of the primary game, the gameplay and presentment of R2RB: R2 are all too familiar, making the sequel seem more like a simple roster update.

The game has two main modes of play, arcade and championship. Arcade mode lets you start out a match versus the computer or another player without worrying in regards to any stats or unnecessary setup options. Championship mode is the game’s main single-player mode, and it allows you to take a fighter from the depths of obscurity to the top of the ranks in search of a shot at the title. This mode has been somewhat dressed up since the basi game, and it now includes a fight schedule that basically forces you to pay more attention to your fighter’s training regimen. Training comprises of seven real-life boxing exercises: jumping rope, the heavy bag, the speed bag, the sway bag, rumble pads, lifting weights, and aerobics. These exercises are represented in the form of minigames, which you ought to genuinely do well in to get the full gain of the exercise. These gains come in the form of increased abilities such as more outstanding punching power, more outstanding foot and hand speed, and further and added endurance. The majority of the minigames are somewhat simple exercises in timing, speed, and memory that get progressively harder with each step. The bulk of the time you spend playing Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2′s championship mode is expended playing these minigames, which do get a bit stale after awhile.

In terms of the actual gameplay mechanics, R2RB: R2 hasn’t actually changed that much from the original game. The left analog stick lets you control your fighter’s motion in the ring, while the buttons on the face of the controller take care of the punches, left and right, high and low. If you press in a direction while executing a punch, you may throw hooks, uppercuts, and overhand rights. The shoulder buttons on an individual basis handle the blocking and weaving, but by pressing them together, you may parry punches as well. The game likewise has a rumble combo that builds up each time you hit an individual with a good shot or taunt. Letters appear that at long last spell the word “rumble,” and at this point you may activate a moment of near invincibility or choose to carry on building up your power. In all, there are three levels of rumble power, and waiting to fill all three levels up results in the capacity to throw a knockout punch that may in a literal sense send your contestant out of the ring. The controls in R2RB: R2 as a whole are exceedingly tight and responsive – you always feel as even though you’re in charge of the action, and you never have to wait for an animation to finish before resuming play. The game’s controls match the game’s visuals exactly, which makes playing R2RB: R2 a joy.

Visually, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 is rather sharp. The 3D models applied for the fighters look very elaborate – all of the boxers blink, move their mouths, and even grimace in pain when they’re struck. Even the crowd stands up and sits down, raises arms, and holds signs up. In the audio department, R2RB: R2 is rather good. The game’s musical score is a bit of dramatic music that has the Ready 2 Rumble anthem behind it. The sound effects for punches, groans, and grunts – as well as all of the characters’ voices – are very good.

In the end, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 is a solid arcade-style boxing game, and like most arcade games, it wears thin somewhat quickly. The only challenge that the game actually presents is unlocking further and added characters, which merely comprises of the time-consuming task of beating the game over and over. But since the game’s AI is comparatively simple, you’ll quickly learn all of the little tricks that’ll lead you to a win with little or no thought put into it at all, which in the end makes R2RB: R2 a game that’s better suitable for rental than purchase.
–Ryan Mac Donald–Copyright © 2000 GameSpot Inc.
Amazon.com Preview
After it’d made a big splash when the Dreamcast was released, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing was one of the introductory huge hits on the system. Midway is hoping that it’ll have the same type of success with the launch of the PlayStation2 come November, when this game is scheduled to be released.

The mystery ingredient that made Ready 2 Rumble Boxing so general with both avid gamers and budding gaming fanciers was the likeable yet outlandish potpourri or characters. Midway has repeated that formula by adding as a lot of as a dozen new characters, with Shaquille O’Neal, Freke Deke, Robox RE SE4, Johnny Blood, Mama Tua, and even reclusive pop star Michael Jackson leading the wacky pack of fictional and semifictional boxers.

A few of your favored characters from the basi game return in Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2, which features updated, customizable costumes. Each reputation also has his or her own particular moves, including a bounce in the female boxers that mimics the real-life gravitational forces at play that are found in the female characters in Tecmo’s Dead or Alive.

In terms of gameplay, Midway has gone back to the gym and reworked the Championship mode. This time around, your fighting schedule is based around a calendar of matches, as opposed to being based solely on your prize winnings. As you win your way through the championship mode, new gym instrumentation will be available for you to use to build your skills. Some new training events have been added, including stair climbing and rope jumping.

The most interesting share of the Championship mode includes the addition of a wrestling-style backstory that sees backstage shenanigans and feuds amidst the fighters. The new Team Battle mode lets you choose up to eight team members for an actual rumble with an opposing group of pugilists from the game. Several new camera angles have been added, which ups the total number to nine. Also, players may suppose to suffer from computer-generated blurry vision after one too a good deal of blows to the head.

As a result of these additions, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2 ought to be a knockout (pun most surely intended) on the PlayStation2. –Todd Mowatt

Has the King of Pop become the Prince of Pugilism? As a sequel to 1999′s surprise knockout, Ready 2 Rumble: Round 2 features Michael Jackson alongside NBA heavyweight Shaquille O’Neal and a mix of new and returning contestants for some over-the-top fisticuffs. The game combines authentic boxing action with outrageous costumes, particular moves, taunts, and rumble flurries that are all distinctive to each character. Throw a good deal of quick jabs in the arcade mode or do it Rocky-style thru the intensified championship mode, where you’ll manage your boxer’s training regimen and schedule fights. Adding to the realism are photographers, corner men with spit buckets, finelooking ring girls that announce each new round, and Michael Buffer with his famous “Let’s get ready to rumble!” call.

If you have friends that come by and play all the time, well this is the game for you. Though, I don’t know that it’s changed that much from Ready2Rumble1. Yeah you get some new characters and some new moves, but it’s really just button mashing. Not many combos are used unless you get your special. The only good part is that you get to talk trash and layeth the smacketh down on your friends. Against the computer, it’s just not that much fun. If you want to build up your boxer and play the season mode or whatever, i suggest that you wait for an EA sports simulation boxing game or something. This game just get’s really repeditive after doing the same training over and over again. Oh, and who really cares if you beat up your friend with Michael Jackson or Shaquille O’Neal. As long as you beat them up and rub it in, it doesn’t matter who you use. To me, this is a rental game. Remember NBA Jam? Well, this is like the Boxing version of NBA jam. No matter what new features it brings, it’s just not fun when you play by yourself.

This game is meant to be FUN and goofy. And fun it is. The crazy moves and wacky characters make it great. It is especially awesome in 2player mode. If you are looking for a realistic game, look somewhere else. But if you are looking for a game that will be loads of fun for you and your friends, then look no further. The only reason I didnt give this game a 5 is because it does get boring after a while with only 1 player, but play 2 player mode to keep the fun lasting!

I think most people who buy this game will be happy with it. Its obvious that this isnt a serious boxing game. Its not meant to be. Knockout Kings from EA Sports will handle the serious boxing simulation, this game is more of a parody of boxing, with hilarious charachters, all of which are ficticious, no real fighters here. The most enjoyable part of the game, surprisingly, is probably the training. In championship mode before each fight your fighter must train for 30 days. There are several excersizes that your fighter must go through before he is allowed to step into the ring. Jumping rope, speed bag, heavy bag and lifting weights are just a few of these training excersizes. When you do step into the ring it makes for a fun game and provides alot of laughs as the fighters taunt their opponents, throw big time flurries and have the ability to knock their opponents out of the ring. I would say that a serious fight fan would be happy with this BUT thats only because KO Kings isnt out yet for the PS2. For right now though, its a good solid sports game that is alot of fun.
